Introduction

Volvo India has launched its entry-level electric SUV, the EX30, at a starting price of ₹39.99 lakh (pre-booking before October 19th, 2025; ₹41 lakh thereafter). Locally assembled in Bengaluru, deliveries begin in early November. This makes it the most affordable luxury EV in the Indian market, undercutting competitors like the Hyundai Ioniq 5 and BMW iX1 LWB.

Quick Specs

  • Price: ₹39.99 lakh (pre-booking), ₹41 lakh (post-booking)
  • Battery: 69kWh lithium-ion
  • Range (WLTP): 480km
  • Motor: Rear-wheel drive, 272hp, 343Nm torque
  • 0-100kph: 5.3 seconds
  • Top Speed: 180kph
  • Boot Space: 318 liters (expandable)

What’s New

The India-spec EX30 features a single 69kWh battery option (unlike the global model) and boasts a 480km WLTP range. It’s slightly smaller than the EX40 and has a more crossover-like design. Inside, it features a 12.3-inch touchscreen with Google built-in, a panoramic sunroof, and a Harman Kardon sound system. Level 2 ADAS features are standard.

Who Should Consider It

The Volvo EX30 is ideal for buyers seeking an affordable yet premium electric SUV with a good range and advanced safety features. It’s a compelling option for those looking to enter the luxury EV market without a significant price premium.

Pros & Cons

Pros:

  • Competitive pricing
  • Impressive range
  • Advanced safety features
  • Premium interior
  • Locally assembled

Cons:

  • Single variant offered
  • Slightly smaller than other SUVs in its class

Verdict

The Volvo EX30 is a strong contender in the burgeoning Indian electric vehicle market. Its attractive price point and compelling features make it a worthy option for luxury EV buyers. The smaller size might be a consideration for some, but for many, the value proposition is undeniable.
